Juan Carlos Abril at Valpo

Spanish Poet and researcher Juan Carlos Abril visited our campus during the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations. Abril gave a lecture-recital of his poems in English and Spanish, in conversation with Professor Miguel-Pueyo. Through the richness of his verses, professors and students discussed topics such as self-knowledge and personal and intellectual growth, highlighting the role of poetry in that journey. Abril shared recommendations of essential literary works in the Western canon, such as The Wasteland by T. S. Eliot u On the Road, by Jack Kerouac, explaining the importance they had in his career as a reader.
