Operational Sustainability
As Valparaiso University enters year two of its strategic plan, Uplift Valpo: Our Beacon for the Journey Forward, we begin the important work of reviewing our operations, administrative services and academic offerings through the operational sustainability initiative. In the spirit of continuous improvement, this initiative aims to ensure we are aligning our resources most effectively to support Valpo’s mission and the success of our students.
The academic analysis and administrative review will be carried out over the next several months, with a set of findings to be completed and shared with the President by early 2024. Throughout this process, University leadership is committed to providing regular, transparent communication to the campus community both through email communications and updates to this website.
Everyone has a part to play.
The project will be co-led by Eric Johnson ’87, Ph.D., provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, and Mark Volpatti, Ed.D., Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, and supported by a steering team and a data collection team. The steering team and data collection team consist of Valpo faculty and staff who were identified based on their functional duties and roles within the institution.
The campus community is an essential resource. All faculty and staff will be asked to contribute feedback and relay honest observations throughout the process. What systems work well? What obstacles do you encounter in your daily work? Do you have a good idea to consider? In addition to meeting regularly with the key project stakeholder groups, a survey will be sent to the campus community and two town halls will be scheduled to allow for sharing of project updates and facilitating questions and answers.
We will be partnering with rpk GROUP to assist in the collection and analysis of data and feedback. Equipped with this unabridged information, findings will be provided to the University on areas of improvement and ways to develop a sustainable and operational framework for Valparaiso University.
Transparency is vital to this process, and all available information will be shared on this webpage. A feedback form is also available by clicking here. Going forward, all comments and questions submitted via the form will be summarized as appropriate and included in the FAQ section.
Ultimately, what we learn from this process will guide our future and position our University to proactively meet the challenges facing higher education.
