Bell and Beacon

The Bell and Beacon has a variety of indoor and outdoor rental equipment available to the Valparaiso University community. Rentals are free with Valpo One Card. BB’s staff is not responsible for lost OneCards.

Before you rent any equipment we require you to fill out this one-time Reservation and Rental Equipment Contract.

Rental Equipment Policy

All rental equipment must be returned in the same condition in which it was rented. Cleaning is the renter’s responsibility. The renter will be charged for items that require cleaning upon return. If customers fail to return equipment by the time specified at check out, they may accrue a late fee.

• For short-term rentals within the Harre Union, students must present and leave their OneCard with BB’s staff. BB’s staff is not responsible for lost OneCards.
• For multiple-day rentals or to use equipment outside of the Harre Union, students must provide full contact information. Students renting equipment for multiple days will be required to fill out the Reservation and Rental Equipment Contract

Broken Equipment Policy

When customers rent equipment from The Bell and Beacon, they assume responsibility for damages once the item is in their possession. Desk attendants will check equipment condition before and after renting to customers.

Customers who damage or break equipment will be held financially responsible for the replacement cost. Fees and charges will be determined by the Harre Union Administration staff. Payments can be paid by card online or with cash or check through the Center for Student Involvement. Customers who fail to follow The Bell and Beacon policies may not be allowed to utilize equipment in the future.
