Visiting Students

Students who are enrolled in other institutions are welcome to take courses for credit at Valpo. We also welcome adult learners who wish to enhance your knowledge or learn new skills.

There is no application fee, and there is no commitment at this stage.

Step 3: Upon approval of your summer application you will be emailed Valpo login credentials to proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Complete the Enrollment form

Students interested in degree-seeking status into one of Valpo’s 20+ graduate programs must complete all requirements for the applicable degree program.

Search for Courses and Course Sections can provide this information by selecting the content you are looking for. Choices are Subject Search, Advanced Search, Catalog Listing, and Section Listing. When searching for sections, make sure the ‘Section Listing’ circle is filled in and choose at least two fields, such as term and subject, etc., then press the ‘Search’ button at the bottom.

After you have submitted your application with the Office of Admission and have been admitted and completed your intent to enroll, the Office of the Registrar will email registration instructions to you.

You can upload your transcripts into the application at the time you apply.

Unofficial are sufficient

It depends on how quickly the applicant provides the necessary requirements for admission.  Once you apply, you will be able to see the requirements.  They will have a status of Awaiting. Once submitted, the status will change to Received.

Visiting students must apply through the Admission office.  Transcripts are required.  Once admitted and you have confirmed your intent to enroll, the Registrar’s office will send an email notification providing instructions for registration. 

You can apply to be a visiting student during any semester you choose, Fall, Spring and Summer terms.  Applicants must be specific in selecting the term they are interested in.

Visiting students must meet the prerequisites for the class they plan to take at Valpo. Advisors use transcripts provided by the student at the time of application to determine if prerequisites have been met.

Students should first review their restrictions to ensure they have been met, along with
ensuring their advisor assignment has been completed by their advisor.

Username and password information is provided when students have confirmed their intent to enroll.

After you have confirmed your intent to enroll and receive login credentials, you will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar, which will contain registration instructions and the name of your advisor. The email will also provide you with a link to log in to Self-Service. Select Plan Your Degree and Schedule Your Courses. Toward the top of the page, you will see “Advising”. Open the link, and My Advisor(s) will be listed.
