Loans

Valpo participates in federal and private loan programs, as well as offering several endowed loan programs. Loans based on need do not accrue any interest while the student remains in school at least 1/2 time, and all loans have competitive interest rates. Loans are available for both student borrowers and parents of students. NOTE: many options on some of the federal sites require a StudentAid.gov to log in. Choosing a lender is an important decision. We believe it is in your best interest to carefully evaluate your borrower relationship with a loan lender of your choice. Once chosen, you begin a relationship that will be a part of your life for many years to come.

Listed below are tools which will provide you access to multiple lenders. The INvestED Marketplace and FASTChoice will allow you to compare lenders and rates for possible alternative loans. As a borrower you have the option to select any lender. If you have any questions regarding the process please contact the Office of Financial aid.

INvestEd Marketplace,  FASTChoice and Great Lakes are not affiliated with The University in any way and The University does not endorse one lender over another. You may choose any educational loan lender you prefer.

Valpo Beacon Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP)

Valparaiso University is here to support your future success with the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), offered in partnership with Ardeo.

We’re confident that a Valpo degree will set you on a path to a successful and financially stable career. With LRAP, we aim to make a Valpo education attainable and reduce the financial risks for you and your family. Simply put, if your income is less than $53,000 annually after you graduate, LRAP can assist with repaying your federal student loans, including Parent PLUS loans.

This program reflects our commitment to your future. We believe that finances shouldn’t stand in the way of choosing Valpo or following your passions. With LRAP, you can pursue your dreams without the fear of overwhelming debt.

Here’s how LRAP works:
  1. Apply and be admitted to Valparaiso University.
  2. File the FAFSA form to be considered for financial aid.
  3. Secure your spot at Valpo by submitting your admission deposit if you haven’t already.
  4. Complete your degree and graduate on time.
  5. Begin loan repayment after graduation and, if your income is below the threshold, LRAP will assist with payments on your federal, private, and Parent PLUS loans.

The Valpo Beacon LRAP offers are awarded by a committee that evaluates each eligible student’s income and overall financial need. Award amounts vary each year depending on available funding and the needs of our incoming class.
