Science Olympiad

On Jan. 12, 2013, Valparaiso University will host high school students competing in a Science Olympiad. Events will be held throughout the day in Neils Science Center, Gellersen Center for Engineering and Mathematics, and Kallay-Christopher Hall. Event coordinators expect between seven and 10 teams to attend the competition, which will bring approximately 100-200 high school students to campus.

Science Olympiad is an academic competition that consists of 23 events in which teams of middle or high school (HS) students participate. Competition events are derived from the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Some of the events involve student-built devices to be displayed, which will be easily viewable for spectators. The rest of the events consist of tests and lab activities that will not be viewable.

Valpo faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the Science Olympiad on Jan. 12 to see the great work that these high school students are doing.
