College of Engineering releases iPad app

The Valparaiso University College of Engineering has released a new digital magazine for the iPad, which will connect the college to many constituents through an interactive digital community. The app was designed by recent Valparaiso University graduates Cameron Banga and Michael Phelps, co-founders of 9magnets LLC.

Designed to be an attractive way to keep in touch with current students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the university, the application offers flexibility in presenting in-depth stories, exciting videos, and beautiful photo galleries.

“We created the iPad app with mobility in mind, allowing for a full reading experience when both connected and not connected to WiFi or 3G internet,” said Cameron Banga, a 2010 economics major. “The application also allows for easy access to additional Valparaiso University resources, such as information about applying to the university. Simple in-app navigation also gives the user access to University Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr pages for further information and interactivity.”

“We are really excited about the release of the Valparaiso University College of Engineering Magazine iPad app. Prospective students, current students, and alumni will now have a great tool to learn about all the exciting accomplishments of the College of Engineering students and faculty,” said Scott Duncan, assistant professor of mechanical engineering.

The app has a cutting-edge digital media design and an intuitive interface, allowing individuals to be connected with the University and the College of Engineering.

“Few digital publications on the iPad offer the detail, functionality, and flexibility that we’ve been able to present here with the Valparaiso University College of Engineering application,” said Banga. “This truly is at the forefront of digital design on the iPad and we’re honored to help bring this to life.”
