Thousands raised in Japan relief campaign; donations still accepted

More than $5,000 has been raised by the Valparaiso University community for relief following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The campaign is wrapping up by the end of April.

Donations will be collected on Saturday, April 30 at the Japanese Spring Dinner at 5 p.m. in Huegli Hall. The dinner is presented by the Japanese Club. Tickets are $3 and are on sale at the union. The event includes performances, cultural presentations and activities.

The final donation total will be split between the Red Cross and Lutheran World Relief.

Donations can still be made online at valpo.edu/japanrelief/.

The campaign has included donations made in a number of venues, including at the Bach Collegium Japan performance on March 19 at the Chapel of the Resurrection, and at a campus-wide prayer vigil.
