Richard E. DeMaris, senior research professor in theology, presented a paper via Zoom at a three-day virtual conference sponsored by the University of Rostock, Germany. DeMaris’s presentation, “Emotional Aspects of Christian and Other Water Rites in the Early Roman Empire,” was the lead-off paper at the conference, whose theme was ritual, emotion, and identity.

Kevin Ostoyich, professor of history, had the third and fourth articles in his “Rubble Child’s World: Stories from Bremen’s Ruins” series released by the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies of Johns Hopkins University. The third article, “Up from the Cellars,” was released on August 4, 2020. The fourth article, “Lucky Soldiers,” was released on August 11, 2020.
