Valpo Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

The Valpo volleyball program continues to excel in the classroom, as it was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award this week. The award, which is based on the 2019-20 academic year, marks the 15th time in the last 17 years that Valpo has earned the honor.

The Team Academic Award is given to college and high school teams which display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The nominating head coaches must be AVCA members. Valpo was one of 227 Division I programs to be so honored this season and one of nine Missouri Valley Conference programs.

The Team Academic Award caps a year full of academic recognition for the volleyball program. Rylee Cookerly (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree for a second straight season and was joined by Brittany Anderson (East Chicago, Ind./Bishop Noll) as an MVC Scholar-Athlete selection.
