More details, including who to contact to apply, are online here. The positions are open until filled.

General Announcements

Library Book/Material Returns — If you are trying to return books/material to the Christopher Center, there is a Book Return next to the first floor door (Chapel side, down the steps). The Book Return is a silver-framed box with a handle on the brick wall.

State of Indiana Phased Re-Opening — Governor Holcomb announced last Friday the plan for Indiana’s phased re-opening. You can see the details of the plan here. Porter County (where Valpo is located), move into re-opening Stage 2 starting Monday (May 4). Stage 2 means it is recommended to wear face masks when in public, gatherings must be 25 or less people, and business that re-open can only operate at 50% capacity. On campus, almost all faculty and staff have been told to continue working from home as the university creates its own phased re-opening plan. We are still here for you virtually!

Bookstore Rental Returns — The Bookstore in Harre Union is now open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays to accept rental returns. Follett, the company that operates the Bookstore, has also announced that anyone who rented materials is being offered free shipping to return materials by mail. The information regarding how to get the shipping label, along with a reminder of when materials are due, goes to the email you entered when you originally rented materials. Additional information is online here.

Move-Out Details
Residential Life sent move out information via email yesterday (April 21). If you have belongings on campus, be sure to read through that information and follow the instructions. Phased move-out began last weekend and continues through May 21. Questions should be directed to reslife@valpo.edu.

Federal CARES Act Grants for Students — All students received an email from COO David Phelps last Wednesday (April 29) announcing that Federal CARES Act Grants will be distributed to eligible students by May 15. The guidelines for who is eligible for the grants were set by the federal government. You can read more about the grants and how they’ll be distributed in the email from COO Phelps from last week Wednesday.

University Grants for International Students — The federal government left international students out of the eligibility for the Federal CARES Act Grants for Students. Because of this, the University has created a grant fund for international students with financial need. This was described in the same email from COO David Phelps last Wednesday (April 29) mentioned above. Students who want to apply for these grant funds can do so online here. Questions should be directed to Byron.Martin@valpo.edu.

Room, Board, and Parking Credits — The email from COO David Phelps from last Wednesday (April 29) also outlined details about room, meal plan, and parking credits from the time we’ve been away from campus this semester. These credits will be calculated and applied to student accounts one-by-one because they are based on how much of your room, meal plan, and/or parking were paid for by financial aid versus paid by you. Credits will be posted to your individual student accounts over the next 30-45 days. The email said that Student Accounts will let students know when your account has been credited. If you owe a balance on your student account, the credit will help pay down that balance. If your student account is paid in full, then you can either request a refund on your student account or leave the credit on your account to help pay for next semester. You can read more about the grants and how they’ll be distributed in the email from COO Phelps from last Wednesday.

Diplomas For Graduating Students — The Registrar’s Office has announced that diplomas will be printed for May graduates in June as usual. This is what happens in a normal year and will continue to occur this year. In order to get their diploma, students provide a mailing address for delivery on DataVU – Students Menu – Diploma Request. Students also need to make sure their DataVU Student Restrictions are completely cleared in order for their diploma to be released. To learn more about graduation and diplomas at Valpo, see this Registrar site.

Summer Financial Aid — If you are taking 6 or more Valpo class credits this summer, be sure to submit the summer financial aid application. Your school-year financial aid award doesn’t carry over into the summer so remember to submit the form if you want to be considered for financial aid for Valpo summer classes. Additional summer class information is online here.
