Men’s Basketball Hiring Managers for 2020–2021 — Managers get valuable hands-on experience in collegiate athletics, working with coaches, players, support staff and administration. The position offers real-world experience for any student interested in careers in sports administration, coaching or a related field. More details, including who to contact to apply, are online. The positions are open until filled.

Office and Transportation Driver Positions Available for 2020–2021 — Applications are now being accepted for the OneCard, Parking and Transportation Office’s Customer Service Associate position, which assists in office daily operations. The office is also now hiring Student Transportation Drivers to drive the campus shuttle. The job descriptions and application links are on Handshake – Jobs – On-Campus. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. April 30.

Move-Out Details — Residential Life sent move-out information via email on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. If you have belongings on campus, be sure to read through that information and follow the instructions. If the Indiana stay-at-home order is extended after May 1, Residential Life will be in touch regarding changes to the move-out process. Questions should be directed to reslife@valpo.edu.

Bookstore Textbook Returns — The University is working with Follett, the company that runs the Valpo Bookstore, to determine procedures for doing textbook rental returns and/or book buy-backs. When the information is solidified, it will be communicated to students. If you rented from the Bookstore, or planned to try to sell books back through the Bookstore, watch your email for the info.

College Mentors for Kids Seeking Leaders — College Mentors is an organization that pairs current Valpo students with local elementary-aged kids. The kids come to campus each week during the school year to participate in fun events with their college mentors. College Mentors needs leaders for several areas for 2020–2021 including Treasurers, Activities Directors, General Managers, Engagement Managers, Fundraising Directors. Shanghai Jewish Refugee Radio Play — Students in this spring’s historical theatre class invite everyone to virtually join their radio play calledThe Singer of Shanghai.” The play is written by students in the class based on interviews with WWII Shanghai Jewish refugee survivors. The play can be viewed on the class YouTube channel at 10:30 a.m. on May 12 or later. Telehealth With Student Insurance — If you are on the University-sponsored United HealthCare insurance, you now have the option of using telehealth at no cost on go.healthiestyou.com/student. There is a video on the site that explains more about how telehealth works. Students who are not currently on the University-sponsored health insurance can utilize this service for $40 per consultation or check with your insurance company to see if they offer a similar product.

Need a Cultural Diversity Course? Check out this Fall 2020 course: EAST 340: China Uncensored: An Exploratory Course (Mondays 6:30 — 9:00 p.m.). Learn about the everyday lives and concerns of regular Chinese citizens, as well as explore and analyze a cultural product of your choosing (literature, film, art, theater, internet culture, video games). This class is project based and has no prerequisites. It is open to students of all disciplines who are interested in learning more about China.
