Valparaiso University Names Alumna as New Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing

Jan. 6, 2023 – Valparaiso, Indiana – Valparaiso University is pleased to announce that alumna Jill Sifuentes ’04 Schur, M.S. will be taking the position of vice president of enrollment and marketing, effective February 4. Prior to this appointment, Schur served as the assistant vice president for graduate and professional enrollment management (GPEM) at Loyola University Chicago.

In this role, Schur will oversee Undergraduate and Graduate Admission, Financial Aid, and Strategic Enrollment and Marketing Initiatives. Schur brings over 15 years of experience in higher education with a successful history of realizing and maintaining enrollment for undergraduate and graduate students. 

“Jill not only brings high level enrollment management experience from one of the premier Jesuit universities in the nation, Loyola University, she brings an intimate familiarity of the Chicagoland market, which we will pursue more vigorously in the future,” said José D. Padilla, J.D., University President. “But most importantly, she carries with her a love for and commitment to her alma mater, Valparaiso University.  For her, this isn’t only a professional matter. It’s personal. She’s coming home.”  

As an alumna, Schur is familiar with and dedicated to Valparaiso University’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion at every level of the enrollment process. Her actions at Loyola University and the Illinois Institute of Technology have demonstrated her ability to design and implement exciting new initiatives that open doors for prospective students. Outside of GPEM, she has experience in several offices in undergraduate admissions, adult and transfer enrollment, and event coordination. 

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to return to Valparaiso University, a place that means so much to me and my family,” Schur said. “There are many schools competing for students. However, I believe Valpo’s mission and culture gives us an edge in attracting and retaining students and engaging alumni for years to come.”

Schur received a B.S. in business administration from Valparaiso University and her M.S. in marketing and communication from the  Illinois Institute of Chicago. She is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counselors and the Jesuit Graduate Admission Professionals.
