Valparaiso University Selects New Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Valparaiso University has named Mark Volpatti, Ed.D., CPA, as vice president for finance and chief financial officer effective Jan. 10, 2022. He previously served as associate vice chancellor in the division of finance and administration with Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
In his roles, Volpatti will serve the University by providing critical leadership and guidance for Valpo’s financial future. He brings with him almost 20 years of experience in higher education financing and has a history of tremendous success in both the educational and corporate arenas.

“Mark brings considerable talent and experience to Valpo,” said José D. Padilla, president of Valparaiso University. “His creative approach to generating additional revenue sources at IUPUI will be a valuable asset to Valparaiso University. I’m excited to have him as part of my leadership team.”

Volpatti is a CPA and has held a vast array of leadership positions within IUPUI. He is on the Board of Directors of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers and is a member of the Indiana CPA Society. Volpatti holds a B.S. in business administration and an Ed.D. from Indiana University and has earned two master’s degrees.

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected as the next vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Valparaiso University,” Volpatti said. “For a 162-year-old institution, it is very forward thinking. As Valpo welcomes their new addition to the administration, Padilla also commended their outgoing vice president for her time at the University. “On behalf of the Board of Directors and my Cabinet, I want to express our sincere gratitude for Susan Scroggins’ service and contributions over the last 25 years. We wish her well and will always consider her a part of the Valpo family.”
