July 2020 SEAC Employee of the Month

Dave Sierkowski, chief information officer, has been selected as the July 2020 SEAC Employee of the Month.

According to one of Dave’s nominators, his leadership skills have been invaluable in keeping the University functioning during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Dave has an underlying knowledge and understanding of how each system works but has also overseen efforts to make sure everyone is doing what they need to do and that they have the tools needed to make things happen.”

Another nominator was impressed by his dedication to his team. “He is the leader that everyone wants to have representing them.He cares about each team member, sacrifices things for the benefit of these employees and really works to improve things so that his staff can be successful. During all the COVID-19 challenges, Dave asked his team to work remotely while staying in the office and handling many in-person customer issues, equipment checks, and his regular work so that his team was not at risk. I honestly don’t know that I have experienced a member of leadership be less selfless. He has gone above and beyond to protect his team and I am in complete awe of his dedication to our safety. Dave believes in Valpo’s values and lives them each day. He encourages the rest of the department to live them also and supports our efforts to do so. He allowed staff to lead spring service trips, encouraged a department wide volunteer service day last summer, and encourages the support of the numerous food drives. While IT isn’t always the most student facing service, Dave is always thinking about how best to serve them and create a positive experience.”

Congratulations, Dave! Thanks for your leadership, your dedication, and your determination to provide exceptional service to our students, faculty, and staff!
