Communal Prayer in a Time of Loss and Mourning

Recent staff and faculty reductions and resignations, office reorganizations, and impending academic program reviews have left many at Valparaiso University with feelings of anger and sadness. We have lost treasured members in our common work, and they have lost their employment with us. This is a time of loss and mourning.

In light of this, the Chapel of the Resurrection will host a time of communal prayer on Wednesday, August 5 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

• During the first two hours, members of the Valparaiso University community are invited to drop in to light a candle and offer personal prayer, both in the main Chapel and in the more intimate Gloria Christi Chapel on the lower level under the main altar.
• Formal prayers will be led by Pastor Jim and Deaconess Kristin in the main Chapel, beginning at 12 p.m.

Pastor Jim and Deaconess Kristin will be on hand for pastoral conversation and counsel the entire time. All are welcome.
