As submitted by faculty and staff.
Sanjay Kumar, Ph.D., associate professor of information & decision sciences, Ceyhun Ozgur, Ph.D., research professor of information & decision sciences, and Sanjeev Jha, Ph.D., associate professor of information & decision sciences published the paper, “Developing an Industry-Focused Supply Chain Management Major and Minor” in the Journal of Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Procurement Vol. 3 No. 1.
The Valparaiso University nuclear physics group in the department of physics and astronomy, Shirvel Stanislaus, Ph.D., professor of physics and astronomy, Adam Gibson-Even, Ph.D., associate professor of physics and astronomy, and Donald Koetke, Ph.D., senior research professor, were awarded a U.S. Department of Energy research grant for three years to continue their research program as part of the STAR international collaboration at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island, N.Y. This research uses the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider to collide spin-polarized protons at high energies to study the fundamental origin of the proton’s intrinsic angular momentum called “spin” (the proton is the nucleus of every hydrogen atom). Each year three to four Valpo students are supported by the grant to engage in this research. With this three-year-award it will be 40 years of continuous funding from the Department of Energy for the Valparaiso University nuclear physics research group.
