Emily Prough Named March 2020 Employee of the Month

Emily Prough, senior coordinator of international student services in the Office of International Programs, has been selected as the March 2020 SEAC Employee of the Month. Her nominators praised her dedication and commitment to helping international students acclimate to campus life.

“Emily has greatly improved the process by which our new international students arrive and transition into our community. She has created a thorough orientation program to meet the specific needs of international students in those first weeks on campus by working with a variety of departments, colleges, and other areas of campus,” according to one of her colleagues. “An example of Emily providing an opportunity for international students to learn about local culture came on Super Bowl Sunday. That morning, Emily was at Walmart purchasing supplies for the party. She indicated that there were no additional funds in the office/program budget for the party, so she was paying for the supplies out of her own pocket. Creating a fun cultural experience for the students was that important to her.”

Finally, nominators also noted her leadership skills as the advisor for the Valparaiso International Student Association (VISA) and her work with students during the February 23 apartment fire in Valparaiso and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congratulations, Emily! Thanks for your passion, your dedication, and your determination to provide exceptional service to our students and the campus community!
