Nicholas Denysenko, Emil and Elfriede Jochum Professor and Chair, delivered the annual Franko lecture of the Chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Ottawa on March 4 titled, “The Orthodox Church in Ukraine: A Century of Separation.” Professor Denysenko delivered the annual Bociurkiw Memorial lecture at the University of Alberta in Edmonton on March 12, titled “Explaining Ukrainian Autocephaly: Politics, History, Ecclesiology, and the Future.”

Showing: What Pregnancy Tells Us about Being Human by Agnes Howard, adjunct assistant professor of humanities, was released by Eerdmans Publishing.

Zhimin Lin, professor of political science, published an article on Joe Biden’s uphill battle in the coming presidential election, “Will ‘Biden miracle’ continue?” in a major Chinese current affairs online publication, The Paper.

Mark Wagenaar, assistant professor of English, presented as part of a panel at the Association of Writers & Writing Programs Conference in San Antonio, “The Evolution of Sudden to Microfiction: The Anthologies That Got It Started.” Mark read poetry as part of a reading with the literary magazines 32 Poems, Beloit Poetry Journal, Crazyhorse, Poetry Northwest, and Quarterly West. He also presented at the Creative Writing Studies Organization conference, “Saying Less to Say More: On Teaching Short Forms.”

Chelsea Wagenaar, director of the Writing Center, moderated a panel at the Association of Writers & Writing Programs Conference in San Antonio: “A Celebration of the Small Press Poetry Prize.” Her review of Sara Henning’s “View from True North” was published at Plume Poetry.

Musa Pinar, professor of marketing and Paul H. Brandt Professor of Business, participated in a group discussion program called, “How Does and Will Covid-19 Impact Marketing,” on YouTube via Google Hangout, April 5, 2020, in Turkey.
