Carolyn Whittier Named February 2020 Employee of the Month

Carolyn Whittier HeadshotCarolyn Whittier, assistant dean of students for Greek Life, Leadership and Volunteer Programs in Student Affairs, has been selected as the February 2020 Employee of the Month.

One of her nominators provided this glowing recommendation. “Carrie Whittier touches the lives of almost every student on campus. From fraternity and sorority leaders and members, to any student interested in leadership opportunities on campus, to students who volunteer through the vast opportunities that Carrie coordinates. Her work in coordinating student leadership conferences and workshops, teaching the LEAD course, coordinating Dance Marathon, or coordinating the TEDxValparaisoUniversity experience – it is all too extensive to list. She can be seen on campus at all hours, seven days a week working closely with students. You may see her here at 10 p.m. after a long day of work to meet with a student organization executive committee. You may see her here at 7 a.m. working diligently on a project that will bring even more benefit to our campus and students. You may see her over the weekend assisting another department with an event, or meeting with parents and students at a fraternity or sorority event. You may see her at a full weekend leadership retreat she coordinated, making sure our students have a fantastic experience. The list is endless. I have been present at our Student Affairs banquet at the end of the year and heard almost every student recipient thank her for helping them grow and find their strengths and passions. I have often heard her take a moment from her busy schedule to ask a student ‘so how’s everything going?’ Her passion for her work with students is evident in everything she does.”

Congratulations, Carrie! Thanks for your passion, your dedication, and your determination to provide exceptional service to our students and the campus community!
