Valpo Welcomes Distinguished Author, Creative Writing Scholar on Oct. 2

WHO: Fiction writer Michael Martone will visit Valparaiso University as part of the English department’s “Wordfest” series.

WHAT: As the first author in the annual Wordfest writers’ series at Valpo, Michael Martone will present his own creative works and stimulate students’ writing. Fort Wayne native Martone is a professor in the University of Alabama’s creative writing department. His work “Brooding: Arias, Choruses, Lullabies, Follies, Dirges, and a Duet” contains a collection of essays considering the concepts of time and place. His latest collection “The Moon over Wapakoneta: Fictions and Science Fictions from Indiana and Beyond” include lyric fictions combining concepts of science fiction under the backdrop of the American Midwest.

All Wordfest events event are free and open to the public.
