International Film Festival at Valparaiso University

Valparaiso University presents its 2019–2020 International Film Festival, featuring films from around the world and discussions led by Valpo faculty members.

Films include:

• “Soshite chichi ni naru — Like Father, Like Son,” Japan, 2013, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by Fred Kavanagh, Ph.D., assistant professor of world languages and cultures.

• “Truman,” Spain/Argentina, 2015, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by Alberto López Martín, Ph.D., assistant professor of world languages and cultures.

• “Werk ohne Autor — Never Look Away,” Germany, 2018, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by Josiah Simon, Ph.D., assistant professor of world languages and cultures.

• “L’Atelier — The Workshop,” France, 2017, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by Timothy Tomasik, Ph.D., chair and professor of world languages and cultures.

• “Cheng fen po lang — Duckweed,” China, 2017, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by Fontaine Lien, Ph.D., assistant professor of foreign languages and cultures.

• “Yomeddine,” Egypt, 2018, at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27, in Neils Science Center room 234. Discussion led by George Potter, Ph.D., assistant professor of English and international studies.

Admission is free for Valpo students, faculty, staff and Valparaiso residents.

The festival is sponsored by the world languages and cultures department and the Kade-Duesenberg German House and Cultural Center, with support from Cultural Arts, the cinema and media studies minor, and the Middle East studies minor.
