Valparaiso University Commercial Earns National Recognition

Valpo Selected as Winner in 35th Annual Telly Awards

The Office of Integrated Marketing and Communications at Valparaiso University is a Silver (the highest honor) and Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for their advertisement titled “Where Passion Meets Purpose.” There were nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.

The Valparaiso University commercial aired in the Chicagoland area through regional cable, broadcast, and online platforms. The video features students following their passion as they move from classroom to service activities. Valpo holds service learning in high regard, and this commercial displayed the passion that students have for helping others.

Valpo collaborated with Cultivate Studios to produce the commercial, which won a silver award in local cable for not-for-profit, a bronze award in local cable for universities, and a bronze award in local cable for branding campaigns. A 30-second commercial and an extended spot were produced for distribution.

“Valparaiso University is a unique community of learning where students are free to explore what it means to lead and serve throughout their lives. The ‘Passion Meets Purpose’ campaign showcases the generous nature and ambitious drive of Valpo students who strive to improve the lives of others both near and far,” said Scott Hendrickson ’02, assistant vice president of integrated marketing and communications. “We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and alumni, and we are honored by this recognition.”

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.
