Nunemaker speaks at Valpo’s December commencement

Andrew N. Nunemaker, the CEO for Dynamis Software Corporation, which provides optimization tools for insurance brokers, served as the speaker at Valparaiso University’s Dec. 9 ceremonies honoring graduates.

Nunemaker received his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Valparaiso University in 1991 and his Master of Science in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1993. He earned his M.B.A. from Harvard University in 1998, where he also served as student body president.

He is active in the Milwaukee community and serves on numerous boards of directors, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Marcus Center for Performing Arts in Milwaukee. He is a past president of the Entrepreneurs Organization of Wisconsin.

Nunemaker was elected to the Valparaiso University Board of Directors in 2011 and served as a Valparaiso University Alumni Association Board of Directors member from 1999 to 2001. He is a member of the Valparaiso University College of Engineering National Council and was named Valparaiso University’s Outstanding Young Alumnus in 2006.

Ceremonies for more than 173 undergraduate, graduate, and law students took place in the Chapel of the Resurrection.

In addition, several faculty members and a pair of honorary degree recipients were acknowledged. Kenneth F. Ripple received the honorary Doctor of Laws degree, while Lynn A. Steen received the honorary Doctor of Science degree. Zachary R. Calo, associate professor of law, was awarded the Michael and Dianne Swygert Research Fellowship, while Seymour H. Moskowitz, professor of law, was awarded the Michael and Dianne Swygert Teaching Fellowship.

Craig M. Goehler, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, was named the Frederick F. Jenny Professor of Emerging Technology, and Timothy Tomasik, associate professor of French, was named the Richard P. Baepler Distinguished Professor in the Humanities. Linda C. Ferguson, professor of music, was honored for receiving the Caterpillar Award for Excellence in Teaching, and John Ruff, associate professor of English and director of the Valpo Core, received the Valparaiso University Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award.
