Valpo announces schedule for Great Lakes Music Festival
The fifth annual Great Lakes Music Festival brings together regional and international talent for a series of performances unique to Northwest Indiana. The festival, which kicks off Monday, Oct. 15, is presented by the University’s Confucius Institute in cooperation with the Graduate School, the Department of Music, the Center for the Arts and the Chinese and Japanese Studies Program. This celebration is one of the largest cultural exchange events in the area.

Chinese Art Song
Featuring artists from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music
Duesenberg Recital Hall, Center for the Arts

Tuesday, Oct. 16
Abigail Washburn Concert
Featuring clawhammer, banjo and vocals
Includes musicians from Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Xishan High School of Renmin University
Harre Union Ballroom

Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 at the door for the general public
Thursday, Oct. 18
High School Invitational Chinese Music Festival Concert
Featuring a collaborative event with performances by from more than 40 visiting musicians from China, 300 student musicians from Valparaiso University and six select area high school orchestras from the Great Lakes region.
