Faculty & Advisor Information
Schedule of Classes
In response to requests from members of the faculty for access to enter and edit course section details for the Schedule of Classes, the Office of the Registrar made training available in 2021. Department chairs, program directors, deans, and academic support staff are invited to complete this training to gain access in Colleague to modify the schedule. In the training, you will learn about using previous schedules as a template and managing details such as the instructor’s name, the section cap, and the instructional method.
A recording has been posted on Canvas for those unavailable during the live sessions. Upon completion of the training, you may request access to the schedule screens in Ellucian Colleague by emailing registrar@valpo.edu.
Access to editing the schedule will allow those managing a department or college’s course details to make quick changes on demand. This will be especially helpful for those who adjust section caps throughout the registration period and FOCUS.
We’re happy to answer your questions and address the unique scheduling needs for your department’s courses, such as co-requisite labs. Email registrar@valpo.edu if you would like to schedule a help session.
The Classroom Request form streamlines the process of requesting classroom attributes for course sections, especially those based on specialized equipment and accessibility features. By using this online form, you can submit a classroom request once but have it on record for each semester going forward. Department chairs and program directors may recommend room assignments and course section enrollment caps, but the Registrar will finalize these in consultation with the deans.
Catalog & Curriculum Management
Curriculum (formerly Curriculog) proposals are routed through workflow to all necessary roles and committees on campus for internal governance review before publishing in the General and Graduate Catalogs. Please see the committee pages (such as EPC) on the Internal Governance site for annual deadlines and other details.
Curriculum Management Training
Training is now available in person and online. A recording of a live training session has been published in Canvas for those who prefer online asynchronous learning. Please email registrar@valpo.edu to schedule any in-person training or support sessions. This training is ideal for faculty members who will be writing catalog change proposals.
Grading
We have a new Grade Change form for instructors to use in updating a final course grade. Faculty members are sent a confirmation message upon submission of the form, and it is automatically routed for the approvals needed, according to the Faculty Handbook. Notifications are sent to Financial Aid and Athletics Compliance as needed.
