Experiential Learning
Valpo’s graduates go on to successful careers because they receive personal attention from faculty as well as hands-on experience. Labs, internships, research opportunities, and service work allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
Several service opportunities are offered through Engineers Without Borders – Valpo, the Office of Volunteer Programs, and other areas within the University community.
Valparaiso University does not have a medical school or research hospital. Therefore, we encourage interested students to participate in medical research at other facilities during the summer, many of which are located in Northwest Indiana, Chicago, Indianapolis, and at institutions near their homes. Some Valparaiso University faculty members conduct medically-related research in which Valpo students participate.
Faculty, other students, and Valpo’s Career Center can help students identify internships that provide students with the work experience that help hone skills and confirm career interests.
