Barbara Timmerman

Barbara Timmerman graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Music.  She taught orchestra and elementary music in the Merrillville, Indiana Schools for 33 years.  Barbara maintains a private studio teaching oboe, English horn, and oboe reed making to students from beginners to adults.  She performs on oboe and English horn as a freelancer throughout Northwest Indiana and Michiana.  She plays English horn with the LaPorte Symphony, and she has performed with the South Bend Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Vesper Chorale’s Chamber Orchestra, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.  Barbara holds Orff-Schulwerk Certification, as well as First Steps in Music Certification.
