A Closer Look: #YouAreWelcomeHere?

Participants will learn about the international students that we have on campus & what they have to offer to our community.  You will interactively experience some of the additional challenges international students face in coming to the US (what it’s like to attend a visa interview & to try to enter the US), some of the academic challenges international students face (what it’s like to sit in a classroom every day when English is your second language) in studying in the US & some of the negative experiences that unfortunately happen to international students in our community while living in the US.  Following the experience, you will be challenged to explore your initial reactions to the experience, keep the conversation going & consider how you, as an individual, have a responsibility & the capacity to make everyone feel welcome at Valparaiso University.  Come to the Chapel View Lounge from 12-2 PM and 4-6 PM to experience this interactive simulation and discover what you can do to make campus a more welcoming place for international students.
