Law School Website Redesign
We are proud to announce the release of our newly redesigned website. In addition to the new mobile responsive design, you will notice a new Faculty Focus section with videos that highlight the faculty’s leadership in legal issues both inside and outside of the classroom, a new calendar that allows users to add reminders directly to their personal calendars, and larger graphical banners throughout the site. We will be continually expanding our online content to bring you updated and relevant information, so we encourage you to bookmark the site, and check back often.

Annual Review
The Law School recently distributed it’s Annual Review to alumni and friends of the Law School. The new publication is designed to highlight important milestones for this past year. An online digital version will be available on www.valpo.edu/law. Copies will be available in the library.

Professor Faisal KuttyOn Jan. 5, Professor Geoffrey Heeren spoke on a panel at the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The panel, entitled "DACA: Executive Discretion or Lawmaking?," concerned the legality and implications of the Obama Administration's executive actions concerning immigration, and it was broadcast live on CSPAN. Professor Faisal KuttyProfessor Faisal Kutty moderated a panel discussion on The Future of Islamic Finance jointly hosted by the Sections on Islamic Law and Jewish Law at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools in Washington, D.C. on Jan 3. Professor Kutty was also elected Co-Chair of the Islamic Law Section and Executive Committee Member of the Section on International Human Rights Law. Read More

AABA Law Foundation
This year, the AABA Law Foundation intends to award one $5,000 scholarship to a law student who has demonstrated a commitment to serving the needs of the Asian Pacific American community, and who intends to serve the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American communities through pro bono, public interest, and/or public service legal work in the future. Applications will be accepted until May 1. Read More


The Etiquette Tip of the Week - Tips for meeting people over coffee
If you meet someone at a party or event, don't be afraid to ask. "Your career (or company) sounds very interesting. Do you have time this week to grab a cup of coffee and tell me more about what you do?" Make it convenient for that person. Scout out coffee locations near the person's office. Read More

JIOP Summer 2015 Internship
The program is a full-time (32 hours per week), six-week minimum, summer internship program open to all first-or second-year diverse law students.

Sister Helen travels around the world giving talks about her ministry. She considers herself a southern storyteller. Read More

Talk to a Lawyer Today
On Monday, Jan. 19, Valparaiso University Law School will provide a venue for the Annual Talk to a Lawyer Today. Sponsored by the NWI Volunteer Lawyers, INC, Indiana State and Porter County Bar Associations at venues in Portage and Valparaiso, local lawyers volunteer to provide pro-bono legal advice to the general public. MLK Mock Trial
On Friday, Jan. 23, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
BLSA's Annual MLK Event will be held in Wesemann Hall. The Mock Trial is based on the events in Ferguson Missouri. First year students will present a full trial by arguing whether a fictional police officer engaged in excessive force while restraining a protestor. The mock trial will be argued by four 1L's.
