Faculty in the News On Jan. 5, Professor Geoffrey Heeren spoke on a panel at the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The panel, entitled "DACA: Executive Discretion or Lawmaking?," concerned the legality and implications of the Obama Administration's executive actions concerning immigration, and it was broadcast live on CSPAN. Read More Professor Faisal Kutty moderated a panel discussion on The Future of Islamic Finance jointly hosted by the Sections on Islamic Law and Jewish Law at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools in Washington, D.C. on Jan 3. MLK Mock Trial On Friday, Jan. 23, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. BLSA’s Annual MLK Event will be held in Wesemann Hall. The Mock Trial is based on the events in Ferguson Missouri. First year students will present a full trial by arguing whether a fictional police officer engaged in excessive force while restraining a protestor. The mock trial will be argued by four 1L’s.
