The Language and Intercultural Learning Center facilities intercultural learning opportunities to support Valparaiso University faculty and staff development in the area of intercultural competence.
Spring Reading Group

LINC hosts an informal, short-term spring reading group for faculty and staff to discuss Crying in H Mart, a memoir by Michelle Zauner. Participants will read the entire book over the spring break and then gather once to talk about the novel later in March. LINC Reading Groups for faculty and staff highlight texts that explore intercultural perspectives.

Spanish Conversation Table – Spring 2025

This spring, LINC hosts a new conversation group specifically for faculty and staff, led by Rev. Kate Museus. Anyone interested in practicing conversational Spanish with colleagues is welcome to participate. The group begins on January 22 and meets weekly. Spring flyer

If you are interested in practicing Spanish but are not available at this time, you are invited to attend the student-focused Spanish Table which meets weekly on Tuesdays, 4 – 4:30 pm.
Podcast Parlor – Spring 2025

LINC hosts Podcast Parlor, an occasional group for faculty and staff interested in discussing matters of language and intercultural perspectives. IDI Planning Group – Spring 2025
If you’re a faculty or staff member who has completed the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), you are invited to join a Community of Practice to help you begin your IDI Plan. The first IDI planning group discussion is scheduled to begin in late January or early February. The group will meet bi-weekly or monthly through April. If you are interested in participating in this group, contact Carol Goss.
