Essential Language Support

Fall 2024 marked the launch of the Valparaiso University Language and Intercultural Learning Center, or LINC. The center provides essential support to Valpo language learners through tutoring, language groups, programming, and a gathering space for all students.

LINC also supports the campus community through the adoption of a complementary focus on intercultural competence, providing learning opportunities for individual development of intercultural competence for students, staff, and faculty. The center is part of the Department of World Languages and Cultures. We invite you to explore intercultural learning with LINC.

Tutors and Programming

Under the umbrella of the Department of World Languages and Cultures, the Language and Intercultural Learning Center, or LINC, expressly supports Valpo students in three distinct ways: tutoring, programming, and gathering. LINC also facilitates opportunities for intercultural learning as individuals explore their own intercultural competence.

To practice your language, connect with a LINC tutor (Language Partner). Any Valpo student can meet with a Language Partner by making an appointment online. Even if you’re not taking a language class, you can meet with a tutor to maintain your language skills or prepare for a semester abroad.
