Announcing Slate Implementation for Admissions Offices
October 24, 2018
The Office of Undergraduate Admission and the Graduate School, together with IT, are implementing a new system called Slate to streamline the admission process for incoming students. Staff from these departments have been working together for several months to prepare for a full rollout. Over the next few weeks, a bridge between Slate and Colleague will go live, allowing student records to be updated more easily.
Processes involving faculty and staff, such as finding student information and running common reports, will also change on that date. General training sessions on how to log in to the system and perform common tasks like searches and reports will be available beginning the week of October 29 for faculty and staff. A full listing of available sessions will be posted on our Bookwhen reservation site at https://bookwhen.com/valpo. We will also add videos on our YouTube channel and pages in the Confluence documentation system covering the same information.
Slate is replacing the EMAS system as well as ancillary systems, which will be gradually phased out as additional functionality within Slate is implemented. On June 18, we started using the Slate platform to allow prospective students to make inquiries and begin the application process. The bridge with Colleague is the next step of the implementation process.
The Slate system improves the student admission experience by providing a more intuitive interface and having one centralized repository for incoming students to submit required documents. It also helps the University reduce costs through improved productivity. Achieving better efficiency will allow Admission staff to spend more time on the high value/high touch work of interacting with prospective students while providing a more modern tool to enhance the University’s recruitment efforts.
If you need assistance with processes in Slate, take advantage of the Technolutions website at technolutions.com. IT staff members are also working to create documentation in the Confluence system. For answers to specific questions relating to the admission process, contact:
