Best memories from your Valpo days:
Every Valpo experience remains memorable one way or another. Worth mentioning are my experiences as Student Ambassador in the Office of International Programs (OIP), Writing consultant at the Judith L. Beumer Writing Center and events coordinator for the Confucius Institute. These opportunities saw me interact cross-culturally with people from different backgrounds. I made friends and enhanced my understanding of diverse worldviews. Equally memorable was being part of the African Students Association (ASA) and promoting cultural diversity. The OIP was home for me and I enjoyed the interesting programs aimed at celebrating culture and making us feel at home. I will continue to cherish these memories.
How Valpo prepared you for your career path:
I remain excited about technology as a tool for problem-solving. Valpo’s IT program enabled me to further my curiosity while expanding my skill set. The rich coursework and classroom interaction fostered a healthy exchange of knowledge. The Valpo community is diverse and caters to students from diverse backgrounds which was a major attraction for me. Today, in my current role at Microsoft, I draw from my IT education at Valpo to understand how technology can be deployed towards developing ground breaking products and services that impact lives and make the world a better place. Also, beyond formal education; my cross-cultural awareness, developed at Valpo, has set me up for success in today’s global workspace.
