Illuminating Hidden Histories
While researching civil rights history in the Midwest as part of his senior capstone project, Simeon Klepac ’25 stumbled upon a 1934 incident at Indiana Dunes State Park. The discovery sent him across the state of Indiana to a plethora of archives and historical sites to peel back the layers of an untold story and paint a vivid picture of segregation-era struggles in Northwest Indiana.
A Beacon of Lutheran Scholarship
Every year, the Chapel of the Resurrection becomes abuzz with a tradition that extends far beyond Valpo’s campus: the Institute of Liturgical Studies. This annual gathering of church leadership aims to provide inspiration and high-level reflection for those who serve in the church, uplifting connections and deepening conversations across the Lutheran faith for the last 76 years.
From The Chapel To Wrigley Field
Josh Langhoff '99 first began playing the organ in the Chapel of the Resurrection as a Valpo student. He never imagined the encouragement he received from Reddel Professor of Music Dennis Friesen-Carper would lead him to put his skills on full display at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs’ ballpark organist.
