Biography
Victoria Baldwin is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education. Prior to joining Valparaiso, Mrs. Baldwin was not only a daycare director, but she also spent thirty gratifying years as an educator at the elementary level. Her teaching career took place in the Gary and Merrillville Public School corporations where she taught self-contained, language arts, science and social studies classes.
In June of 2023, Victoria was blessed to retire from the elementary level as a proven teacher-leader dedicated to the development and implementation of strong instructional strategies, who mentored, trained, and provided in-depth knowledge of classroom management to a plethora of new teachers which led to higher student achievement. During those extensive years of public service to schools in her community, she developed a strong team builder background which enabled her to effectively and collegially collaborate with all staff to develop a culture of high expectations and successful outcomes for all educational stakeholders.
Aspiration
Through the two God-given gifts of helping and encouraging that Victoria has been endowed with, she loves assisting her colleagues in laying the solid foundation needed by pre-service teachers as they enter today’s classrooms. Through demonstration, it is her hope to be both a light and integral part in ensuring that students progressing through the teacher preparation program at Valparaiso University indeed find their calling in the classroom -being equipped with knowledge, passion, and integrity.
