The Carlson-Krebs Gallery
When Computing & Information Sciences decided a Macintosh-focused lab to support courses like Web Programming and Mobile Applications, Meier Hall room 130 was converted to support computing equipemt. The resulting space and simple design allowed the Department, on the suggestion of Professor Aimee Tomasek, to partner with the Department of Communications and Visual Arts to create a rotating exhibition space.
Periodically, faculty in CVA courses will challenge their students to create new pieces to compete for the spaces provided by this new gallery – with faculty from both departments serving as the selection committee.
The space is dedicated to two Math/CS faculty who were key to the development of Computer Science at Valpo – Professors Diane Hoermann ’56 Krebs and Lee Carlson.
A formal opening ceremony will take place when COVID-related circumstances allow.
