Orgs: ACM & ACM-W
Valparaiso University’s CIS Department supports two student professional organization chapters – one ACM and one ACM-W. These local affiliates provide Valpo students with a link to their international parent organizations:
- The Association for Computing Machinery is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society. It delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. It serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. [from http://acm.org]
- ACM-Women supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women. These student organizations partner with the IEEE student chapter (hosted and supported by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department) and other groups across campus for a variety of projects.
