Biography
Born and raised in Valpo, Dean Douglas graduated from Valparaiso High School and attended Miami University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in sociology. She attended Capital University Law School, where she graduated summa cum laude and earned her Juris Doctorate with a focus in federal appellate advocacy.
Before joining the Communication Department in 2012, Dean Douglas worked as a federal appellate judicial clerk for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and also practiced law primarily as a litigator in Columbus, Ohio. In 2020, Dean Douglas took on the additional role of Assistant Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, now splitting her time as both a faculty member as well as an administrator. Her areas of teaching interest include intellectual property, communication law, negotiation and conflict resolution, public speaking, and Internet communication.
