“At Valpo, you’re going to get a really well-rounded experience – with a lot of personal attention – that’s going to get you where you want to go.”
Jorie Ballun ’11 was an engineering major, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying the complete Valparaiso University experience. As a member of the cross country and track teams, she had the chance to participate in Division I athletics. And as a student in the College of Engineering, she benefited from the kind of undergraduate research opportunities that are hard to match, such as those that Valpo offers with the James S. Markiewicz Solar Energy Research Facility, which was built in part by students with faculty supervision.
“It’s just mind-blowing,” she says. “No one else I know worked on projects like this. It’s top-of-the-line technology. Working on renewable energy is really hot right now, and the fact that I did that before I even graduated and got a real job is awesome.” Valparaiso University’s professional schools – engineering, business, and nursing and health professions – offer the best in technical instruction. And at Valpo, you can also participate in athletics, music, and more. Developing the complete individual, inside the classroom and beyond, is what Valpo is all about.
