Elizabeth Gingerich, J.D.
Associate Professor of Business Law

Elizabeth Gingerich teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in business law, and is editor-in-chief of Valpo’s Journal of Values-Based Leadership. She brings nearly three decades of law experience into the classroom, most recently as a law partner with the Terrell & Thrall LLP. She has lectured at national and international conferences on intellectual property, and her work has been published in The Indiana Law Review, Res Gestae, and the Employee Relations Law Journal. She is a member of both the Indiana and Virginia State Bar Associations and maintains a limited practice in corporate law.

Donna Guydan, CPA, MPA, ’92 J.D., LLM
Lecturer in Accounting and Business Law

Donna Guydan brings to the classroom her experience in public accounting and as co-owner of a general law practice. She has been named several times among the Who’s Who of American Educators. She has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1992, and is licensed to practice law in Indiana and in U.S. District Court.

Zhenhu Jin, Ph.D.
Professor of Finance

Zhenhu Jin teaches financial management, investments, portfolio management, and international finance. His research interests include executive compensation, international markets, market volatility, stock repurchases, and stock splits. He has published more than two dozen articles in such reviewed journals as the Quarterly Review of Finance and Economics, the Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, and the Journal of Applied Business Research. Professor Jin’s work on dividend initiation has been well recognized by the academic community and provided theoretical foundations for several doctoral dissertations at major research universities. His experience also includes service on the editorial review board of an academic journal, international consulting work for a major corporation in China, and arbitration of securities disputes. Professor Jin has served on the board of Asia Network, a consortium of almost two hundred universities in North America that aims to promote research on Asia and improve cultural exchanges with Asian countries.

Musa Pinar, Ph.D.
Professor of Marketing

Musa Pinar teaches marketing courses to undergraduate and MBA students, including Consumer Behavior, International Marketing, and Marketing Strategy. His research focuses on the marketing of services, including banking and tourism, and often focuses on businesses and markets in Turkey. His work is widely published and presented, and he has received the Best Paper Awards at national and international conferences. Professor Pinar is a member of American Marketing Association, Midwest Marketing Association, Global Awareness Society International, Rotary Club of Valparaiso, Indiana, and the Gamma Sigma Delta professional honor society.

Dean Schroeder, Ph.D.
Professor of Management

Dean Schroeder was the founding director of Valpo’s MBA and MEM programs. He specializes in strategic management, management of technology, and creating high-performance organizations. He is co-author of Ideas Are Free: How the Idea Revolution is Liberating People and Transforming Organizations, which was awarded the Reader’s Choice Award by Fast Company. He also wrote, directed, and narrated Lean Green, a video on how Subaru Indiana Automotive eliminated all landfills waste while manufacturing 1,000 cars a day. Professor Schroeder served for five years on Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners, the nation’s foremost recognition for business excellence.

Sailu (Lulu) Li, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Finance

Sailu Li teaches Financial Management and International Finance. Previously, she has taught Principles of Macroeconomics, Financial Management, Investments, and Financial Theory & Practice at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she was awarded the Graduate Student Award for Exemplary Teaching. Her research interests include fixed income securities, mergers & acquisitions, dividend policy, and the impact of accounting events on corporate’s cost of capital. Her research has twice been awarded a Summer Research Grant by Belk College of Business, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has passed all three levels of the CFA program and may be eligible for the CFA Charter upon completion of the required work experience.

John Steele, MBA

John Steele has over 30 years of experience with domestic and international organizations ranging from start-up to Fortune 100. Previous titles include treasurer, CFO, corporate finance director, SVP finance, board member, board chair and consultant. His experience covers a broad range of environments, including business cycle (high growth, restructuring, bankruptcy, mature, and start-up) and ownership (family, private, public, foreign, and private equity). Steele has taught at two other universities.
