Gospel Choir

The Valparaiso University Gospel Choir began on September 19, 2023. As a reintroduction of the former VUGC, it is designed to display unity at the heart of the Gospel message in song, and to positively impact the lives of both the members and the listening audiences.

We meet Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Helge Center Music Room 122 located in the Helge Center (connected to the Chapel of the Resurrection).

Accepting the role as the new Director, I am afforded the opportunity to exercise the gifts and calling that has been invested in my life. The position allows me to lead by  nurturing potential gifts and talents of other singers/musicians. In doing so, this prepares us all to collectively raise a melody in the attempt to lift the hearts of others.

All VU students, faculty, staff, and alumni are welcomed to join in being a conduit to share the Gospel in song.

The Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, fuels the spirit. Music feeds the heart and soul. Gospel music is a source for faith, encouragement, and hope building. Let us sing together!

Upcoming Events

Please join us for our upcoming Gospel Choir concert on Saturday, February 1 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of the Resurrection.

“Stand Together” is inspired from an excerpt of the ‘I Have a Dream’ speech delivered by Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He fervently expressed, “…when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, Black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing…”

This event is free and open to the public! Seating is first come, first served.

Singers in the community are welcome to join in the finale selection.
