Jordan Embry

Marketing Manager, University Marketing

Here’s what Jordan’s recommender had to say:

“Jordan is constantly stepping up to not only be a liaison between our department and others, but she goes above and beyond to step in as a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or a sounding board to bounce ideas off. She leads with grace, exudes compassion, and puts others before herself.

I could go on and on about Jordan’s selflessness and her huge heart, but the examples speak for themselves:

The last two years at Valpo, she served as the marketing liaison for the MLK Day committee and even stepped up to co-lead a session on the importance of mental health. She worked with the head of the counseling center to remind young people that without mental well-being, our well-being is unbalanced. Even with an intense practicum and internship taking up her evenings, she still stepped back into the liaison role without hesitation for the 2025 MLK Day Celebration.

This year, Jordan also stepped in to be our marketing lead for the Lutheran Centennial Celebration – not only participating in calls and providing marketing feedback, but also offering her unique perspective and intentional ideas.

She has mentored several interns over the years to not only be adept marketers but well-rounded, good people. When our intern, Sam, graduated, tears were shed because he was so appreciative of her guidance. From helping them manage their time, being a safe space for them to unwind, and improve their marketing skills for a marketable resume, Jordan’s mentorship and love span beyond faculty and staff interactions.

Jordan leads our storytelling efforts and has taken Valpo Stories from a monthly blog post (formerly the Beacon Blog) to a four-story-a-month initiative. She rebranded her “interviews” to be “conversations” so everyone she interacts with feels comfortable and open. She has a few questions that need to be answered but she lets the conversation flow naturally, effortlessly weaving faculty, staff, student, and alumni stories into digestible articles that perform outrageously well on social media. Numerous times, her interviewees have contacted me to tell me how good she made them feel and how her care and compassion came through.

We are truly so lucky to have Jordan – not only on our team but at our campus. She is an alumna and a marketing manager to some, but she is so much more than that to so many.

I can think of no one on campus who deserves this award more – she is the embodiment of a community builder and creates mustard seed moments wherever she goes.”
