Calling & Spiritual Life
Lutheran Centennial Celebration
Valparaiso University is proud to celebrate the Lutheran Centennial! Celebrations will begin during Homecoming 2024 and culminate with Homecoming 2025. Throughout the year, we will celebrate God’s faithfulness to Valpo through a number of events. We intend to tell this story through music, worship, historical remembrances, and celebrations.
Spiritual Life
Centered in Christ, the Ministry of the Chapel of the Resurrection proclaims God’s love and serves students, faculty, and staff by building an inclusive community.
Institute for Leadership and Service
The Institute for Leadership and Service is dedicated to preparing students for lives of leadership and service—lives shaped by a sense of calling, equipped for thoughtful reflection, engaged in the larger world, and responsive to its deepest challenges.
Institute of Liturgical Studies
The Institute of Liturgical Studies is a pivot point that connects church leaders, congregations, and other partners in caring for the church’s liturgy, nurturing and forming those who lead liturgy and song.
Our History
Towering above the surrounding landscape, the Chapel of the Resurrection is a manifestation of the character embodied by the Valparaiso University community.
COMMUNITY & COLLABORATION
Mustard Seed Moments
The Division of Calling & Spiritual Life has started an initiative called “Mustard Seed Moments” to recognize campus community members who are working to build community and collaboration.
In Matthew 13, Jesus tells the parable of the kingdom of heaven being like a mustard seed (the smallest seed), and when it is planted it grows into one of the largest plants that can be a shelter for the birds.
Sometimes in the busyness of each day we can miss the chance to celebrate and acknowledge the seeds of community around us that make Valpo such a welcoming environment for all. Therefore, we wanted to create a space to lift these up and celebrate the joy it is to be in a place of community and collaboration and the small seeds that make it possible.
If you can think of someone on campus that should be recognized for their community-building efforts, please fill out this form, and keep cheering on those who make positive differences in our campus community!
All persons nominated will be featured in the Calling & Spiritual Life weekly newsletter and on the Mustard Seed Moments webpage. Check out the webpage to see who all was nominated last semester!
