Ram or Antelope Ceremonial Dance Mask

This mask depicts an elegantly carved effigy of a ram or antelope with geometrical designs in polychrome paints of red, white, and black. There is an open muzzle-mouth, circular designs and dots as eyes, and geometrical designs on the horns. The mouth or muzzle acts as a peephole for the dancer.

Provenance: The first known American collector was the renowned collector Lawrence P. Kolton and Rachel Angotti of Michigan City, Indiana, between the years of 1969 and 1979.
