Degree Programs
Our degree programs are designed to meet the requirements for graduate study, for professional schools, for a teaching career in biology, or for working in industrial or governmental positions, with options to meet a range of needs and interests. All majors in the College of Arts and Sciences complete at least 124 total credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Biology Majors
Degree Requirements »
- A second major in a non-science discipline;
- The 32-credit complementary major in environmental science;
- A disciplinary science minor (qualifying disciplines include astronomy, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geography, geology, mathematics, meteorology, physics, and psychology); or
- A minor in fundamentals of business, business administration, applied statistics, engineering, or geographic information systems.
Research Intensive Concentration
Bachelor of Science students who are interested in pursuing graduate study may qualify for this highly selective program. In addition to the standard 32-hour major, it requires BIO 195: Introduction to Biological Research. Students achieve and maintain a GPA of 3.0, both in the major and overall, to qualify for, and remain in, the program.
