Calling and Spiritual Life

The division of Calling and Spiritual Life helps the University live out its mission by encouraging the campus community to reflect on calling and purpose; providing opportunities to grow spiritually through worship, caring conversations, and student ministries, and supporting the ministry of the broader church.

Valparaiso University is proud to celebrate the Lutheran Centennial! Celebrations will begin during Homecoming 2024 and culminate with Homecoming 2025. Throughout the year, we will celebrate God’s faithfulness to Valpo through a number of events. We intend to tell this story through music, worship, historical remembrances, and celebrations.

Join us for “Christmas at Valpo: How Great Our Joy!” on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, December 7 at 5:00 p.m.
This is a ticketed event sponsored by the Department of Music and the Division of Calling & Spiritual Life. Members of the two departments have come together to plan an inspirational evening that will also include hymn singing, scripture, and prayers. Musicial ensembles to be featured are Chorale, Kantorei, Bach Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Concert Band, and University Singers.

New this year, in celebration of our Lutheran Centennial, we invite you to join us for “A Valpo Christmas Dinner” preceding the concert on Friday. The evening will feature Christmas dishes from around the world and some brief remarks by Emeritus Professor Dr. Mel Piehl about Valpo’s Lutheran heritage.
You can find ticket information on the Christmas at Valpo website.
