HEART:
SPECIMEN
Faux tropical weather's ether and dye;
node-to-node silent electricity;
vessel-veins bright as scales monarch butterflies die
to display—lost the lost symmetry
lent to the left-wedged lung.
Tour of blood lobe by loop,
route of rooted body wrung rung by rung:
gone the sixty-second circuit-hoop—
cropped, stopped, the aortal shoot.
Chrysalis's false-flying metamorphosis.
Pruned pear's orchard-pendant fruit.
New-grafted bonsai's ancient artifice.
Glassed in formalin, deathless-day-to-day
—love's edits freshens love's decay.
