Professor Byrum joined the Valparaiso University faculty in the fall of 1997. Her primary work areas are programming, marketing and outreach; government information; and map collections coordination. She also works in the Library Instruction and Reference areas. In addition, she is the library liaison to the Departments of History, Political Science, Geography, and Meteorology. On campus, she is a member of the Committee to Enhance Learning and Teaching.

Areas of research interest include focus group research, presidential signing statements, and the study of database use in support of classroom teaching.
